Energy, power, oil.... sun, wind, water....
Some of my work dealing with climate change involves making ice, which requires an energy-consuming freezer. To reconcile this issue, I keep track of the energy used, do my best to conserve energy elsewhere and lower my carbon footprint, as well as creating drawings of alternative energy possibilities. These drawings become animations and sculptures.
I have been exploring human powered electricity generation (as well as relational aesthetics) through interactive installations. Using bikes, I power speakers and ipods playing field recordings, TVs playing videos, and other electronics.
